I like simple things. It doesn't take much to make me happy. The formula is comprised of basics: good health, good food, good company and now that I'm a mama, simply being in the presence of my little one fills me with joy. Over the weekend, Dave & I took Maddox to the park so he could run around the playground and explore. While there, he met another blonde-haired boy about his age and a beautiful little girl, perhaps around 5 or 6, who automatically took him under her wing. "These are my two best friends, papa!" She was thrilled throwing them the ball, helping them down the slide, and exerting her energy around them.
The park also has trails that go into the woods and a trail around a large field with work-out stations throughout. So before we got ready to leave, we took a short walk so Dave could check out the stations and for Maddox to explore. I've hardly been taking out my fancy camera to capture these minimal moments but it was the perfect opportunity. I never want to forget the way his hair curls at the nape of his neck or how tiny his fingers are or how furrowed his brow is constantly. These are fleeting moments that pass by too quickly and I want them engrained in my heart forever, even if my memories start to slip.
Can we take a moment to appreciate how adorable this picture of Maddox & his daddy holding hands is? It's such a rare occurrence he holds someone's hands. If you know him, you know how independent and free his spirit is so I'm happy I was able to capture it on camera.
We also went camping on Sunday. It was Maddox's first time and he had such a blast. He woke up at 5:30 in the morning so I felt bad for our friends and fellow campsite neighbors but oh well. It was beautiful to escape into the mountains for a few days surrounded by my loved ones. This summer has been so good to all of us that I hope we don't feel too holed up during the colder months. Dave's schedule is about to get busier so sadly, we'll be seeing less of him. I hope you had a wonderful labor Day weekend as well.
